When I was growing up
When I was growing up, we never had the best house on the block, the best car, or the most money, but one thing I had that no one else had was THE BEST MOTHER. Looking back, I guess I was the richest kid in my neighbourhood after all!
All too often now people put far too much empathises on material things. But when you think back, we didn’t have half the things kids have nowadays.
But were we sad? No, if anything we were so much happier than the kids today.
We spent all evening playing outside with our friends, Mom made homecooked dinners, and we would sit down together as a family to talk at the dinner table, and watch tv together as a family.
Of course it’s nice to have nice things. But will a child really remember that? No!
But they will remember the time you spent together, the special moments shared and the memories made. At the end of the day kids don’t care how much money you have they just want you. All of you. Not your divided attention while your stuck to your phone, and vice versa.
Don’t let them be attached to their phone and miss out on a real childhood, just because it keeps them quiet. Being present, is the best present.
