“Two Beers and a puppy” is a test developed by Ross McCammon. It has gone viral multiple times over since it’s publication in his book Works Well With Others.
It works like this: Pick a person in your life — a co-worker, friend, cousin — and ask yourself two questions in order to find out how you actually feel about them.
Question 1 – “Would I have two beers with this person?”
Question 2 – “Would I allow this person to look after my puppy over a weekend?”
Some people are no and no. These people are to be avoided at all costs.
Some people are yes and no. These people are two be cautiously trusted.
Some people are no and yes. These people are no fun but they make the world a better place — for puppies, especially.
And some people are yes and yes. These people are wonderful people and your life and work are better for having them in your life.
Seek them out. Collaborate with them. Enjoy their company
Sometimes, especially when you are younger, it is hard to know who is good for us. We can surround ourselves with people and ‘friends’ but truthfully are these really people benefitting us in any way?
All too often feelings and emotions get involved and complicate relationships which make it near impossible to think logically.
This test is the perfect way to know if you should distance yourselves from someone, because honestly if they fail both questions they really shouldn’t be in your life.
More importantly if someone passes both question it shows who you can really trust and you should hold onto these people as they are hard to find.
