Husband Mocked My Underwear in a Group Chat with His Friends …He Soon Regretted It
Tom and I, Anna, had been pinching pennies for months. All because my husband had set his sights on a gorgeous new sports car he’d been eyeing. Money was tight, so I had to put all my personal desires on the back burner.
This meant no new clothes. No updating my makeup or even buying new underwear. We were in full savings mode, so even small purchases were off-limits.
Two days ago, while tidying up the living room, I noticed Tom’s phone was low on battery. As I picked it up to charge it, a notification popped up. Normally, I respect his privacy, but the preview of a photo caught my eye.
Curious, I unlocked his phone and started browsing through a group chat with his closest friends. To my shock, the photo was of my plain, practical underwear. I couldn’t believe what I was reading as Tom’s comment appeared alongside it. He wrote that he “doesn’t remember marrying a granny” and labeled it with: “Check out Anna’s granny panties!”
The comments that followed were filled with laughing emojis and teasing remarks from his friends. I was crushed. Humiliated. I couldn’t believe my husband was making fun of me to his buddies.
They wrote things like, “Does your mom know Anna is wearing her underwear?” and “Well, that’s certainly a mood killer in the bedroom.” I couldn’t stomach reading any more.
When Tom came home, I didn’t confront him. I wasn’t sure how to approach it without making it look like I had been snooping. I tried to act normal, but I couldn’t shake the feelings of betrayal.
The next morning, I met my mother-in-law, Joyce, for brunch. I tried to act like everything was fine, but Joyce, ever perceptive, noticed something was off. I ended up confiding in her about the group chat and how hurt and small I felt.
Instead of the shock or disappointment I was expecting, a mischievous glint sparkled in her eyes. Leaning in, she whispered, “Leave it to me, dear. I know exactly what to do.”
What happened next? Prepare yourself.
That evening, when Tom came home, he found me completely transformed. I was wearing a stunning red gown, my hair styled to perfection, and my makeup done professionally.
His jaw dropped when he saw me. “Wow, you look incredible! Where did all this come from?” he asked, clearly stunned.
“Your car fund,” I replied coolly, though I couldn’t meet his gaze.
“You did what? We were saving for that—” His confusion quickly turned to anger.
Before he could say more, Joyce walked in with a calm but commanding presence. “I suggested she treat herself,” she said, cutting him off. “Seems to me you need a reminder of how to appreciate and respect your wife.”
Her tone softened slightly, but remained firm. “Also, we’ve decided that I’m the only ‘granny’ here. So Anna deserves some beautiful underwear to match her stunning outfit.”
Joyce continued, “She deserves elegance, not ridicule or being shared in a chat.”
Tom, now flustered and clearly outnumbered, tried to argue. But his apology came too late. His mother’s firm stance left him speechless.
“You’ve learned a tough lesson today, son,” Joyce added. “Maybe next time, you’ll think twice before mocking someone who sacrifices so much for you.”
Later, as Joyce and I were getting ready to head out for a girls’ night, I grabbed Tom’s phone. I snapped a glamorous selfie and sent it to his group chat with a message:
“Granny’s going out tonight, guys!”
That night wasn’t just about teaching Tom a lesson. It was about reclaiming my dignity and sense of self-worth, with a surprising ally by my side.
When I came home, Tom was waiting with flowers, chocolates, and a romantic setup. “I’m so sorry for taking you for granted and not respecting you the way you deserve,” he said sincerely.
I knew he wasn’t a bad person, so I decided to forgive him. But it was a lesson both of us would remember.
