How To Beat The Heat This Summer & Get A Perfect Nights Sleep
.Plan ahead and keep the light out of the room during the day. Keep all curtains closed so no sun can come in and turn off lights. Believe it or not but light bulbs can add an abundance of heat to an already hot room.
.Ditch the duvet and opt for a lightweight cotton sheet on your bed. It is much more breathable and help you keep cool
.Create a DIY AC unit by placing a shallow tray filled with ice in front of a fan. The breeze from the fan will send a cooling mist your way.
.This is a nifty little trick. Get a hot water bottle and half fill it with ice cold water. The bottle works basically the same way but instead of releasing warm heat it emits refreshing cold. It will keep you cool all night and is perfect to place on your sheet before you hop into bed to make a nice cool spot. (Make sure you use a separate hot water bottle for cold water than you do for hot water as the rubber can be compromised)
.Put your pillowcase in a zip lock bag and pop them in the fridge for a few hours before bedtime. When you get them out ready for bed they will be lovely a cold
.You can also go a step further and chill your socks in the fridge before bedtime. Keeping your feet cool will help to lower your core body temperature.
.Take a cool shower before bed, but make sure it is not too cold. Luke warm water is perfect, anything too extreme like an ice cold shower will get your heart pumping blood around your body and is likely to make you feel even hotter.
.Cool down your hot spots by putting ice packs on your pulse points at the wrists, neck, elbows, groin, ankles and behind your knees. Another alternative is to run your wrists under cold water for a minute, and this will help cool you off before bed.
.Finally, perhaps the most obvious, make sure to drink plenty of cold fluids, and have a cold drink beside you at night to keep you dehydrated.
