Family Reject Developers Who Build Suburb Around Entire Property …10 Years Later, House’s Value is Astronomical
We’ve all heard stories of people defying “the man,” but one family in Australia is taking things to a whole new level by rejecting any and all offers for their property.
Reports suggest that the family has repeatedly turned down developers, even as they went on to build an entire suburb on the land surrounding the property.
Undeterred, the owners of the Windsor Castle-style mansion claim that no amount of money could ever put a price on their beloved home. The property is said to feature a 650-foot driveway, lush green gardens, and a breath-taking panoramic view of the Blue Mountains.
Developers, desperate to acquire the land, have made several generous offers. Yet, the family has firmly said no every time.
Back in 2012, most of the neighboring land was sold off, and the property in question was valued at around $4.75 million. Fast forward 10 years, and experts now estimate that the home could be worth a staggering $50 million!
Taylor Bredin, a real estate agent with Ray White Quakers Hill, told 7News, “The fact that most people sold out years ago and they’ve held on, all credit to them. Depending on the development plans, you could fit 40 to 50 properties on this land. If subdivided, a 300-square-meter block could sell for a million dollars.”
Today, the property is surrounded by homes built right up to its fence, but the family has no plans to sell. They enjoy their peaceful cul-de-sac lifestyle.
Diane Zammit, 50, told Daily Mail Australia that the neighborhood used to be “farmland dotted with little red brick homes and cottages.” She added, “Every home was unique, and there was so much space—but not anymore. It’s just not the same.”
It certainly takes a lot of resolve to turn down an offer of $50 million!
