Sinus Headaches
If you are feeling a headache at the front on your face this is a sign of a sinus headache. These are fairly common to get when you are suffering from a cold or the flu. A way to treat this type is to clear any congestion by having a hot shower or with cold medications. Exercise can also help with clearing the sinus’s.
Tension headaches
If it feels like you are wearing a really tight headband around your head then this is called a tension headaches. There are many causes for these types of headaches. They can last for several day and although they are not usually serious, you need to be able to determine the source to be able to relieve the pain.
Stress- This is a key factor for those suffering with tension headaches. You need to figure out what it is that is stressing you out, this could be due to a relationship, family, friends, work, school ect. A single stressful situation or a slow build up of stress can both bring tension headaches!
Eye strain – A headache at the front of your head could be due to straining your eyes. You need to get away from any laptop,phone or TV screens! Another cause linked to eyes strain is that you may need glasses. This can easily be figured out with a trip to the eye doctor (opticians).
Dehydration – If you are not drinking enough water everyday this can lead to headaches. Try drinking more water to see if it relieves the pain.
Hunger – If you are hungry or have skipped a meal this can cause headaches. Make sure to eat your 3 meals a day with a healthy balanced of foods.
Tiredness – A lack of sleep or being tired can cause headaches. Make sure to get the recommended amount of sleep each night so you can avoid headaches and function properly during the day.
Cluster Headaches
If you experience pain around one eye this is called a cluster headache. It is called a cluster headache because they will show up in ‘clusters’ repeatedly in a small amount of time. In some cases it may disappear for a few weeks/months before returning. Cluster headaches are rare so if you suffer these regularly it is suggested that you see your doctor. They could be due to certain conditions and therefore medication is require. A specialist neurologist can help determine the best treatment.
Migraine
If one side or all our your head severely hurts (without any physical reason) or you experience intense throbbing then this is a migraine. Migraines can not be confused with headaches as they are often serve and can be debilitating. Migraines can cause sufferers to have nausea, sensitivity to noise, muscle weakness, changed to vision. Often anyone suffering will need bed rest until the migraine passes.
