Whoever said, “The customer is always right” has clearly never worked with the public a day in their freakin life!
Having worked retail before, I have to say… 9 out of 10 times the customer is actually wrong! Whoever said this really had no idea what they was talking about. The clearly never had to work with the public and deal with all the rubbish that they give checkout clerks! Sure I get the whole idea of how the saying goes, ‘The customer is always right’ because as a retail worker you try and do your job to the best of your ability so they get the top service from you and help them the best you can. But most of the customers who come at you with issues have such bad attitudes, it is so hard to bite your tongue and nod and agree with them.
You know they’re wrong but you have to be nice about it. Also I think some customers use this to their advantage when they come about an issue. They know you cant react. Some also use this to treat the workers like trash, with no reguard to the fact they are just trying to do their job and following company policy.
