Shop Owner Fed Up With Rude Customers Puts Out Sign That Immediately Makes Them Nicer.
We all have bad mornings. That is when we all reach for coffee, be it made at home or from a shop. However, whether it’s because we are over-tired, late to work or having a bad morning, it does not mean that we should take out a bad mood on others.
Imagine working as a barista every morning having customers walking in after waking up on their bad side. Getting snappy request for coffee without eye contact is a hard thing to swallow. Even at any time of the day. This in turn can put you in a bad mood after being treated so impolitely.
That’s why Austin Simms of Roanoke, VA, decided to do something about it. After having a few too many of these rude customers in a row he came up with a plan to get his message across in a non-aggressive way. So in an effort to help some customers with their manners, he placed a sign outside of CUPS Coffee & Tea indicating their new pricing policy. Charging people with no manners more than those who asked politely. After all manners cost nothing!
“One small coffee” $5.00
“One small coffee, please” $3.00
“Hello, I’d like one small coffee please.” $1.75
It acts as a reminder to people of the value of those around them and to treat everyone with respect no matter their uniform, colour, or creed.
Although it is sad that it was needed in the first place, we think it is a brilliant idea. It serves as a perfect reminder that you should always be polite and say please and thank you to your baristas and anyone you come into contact without throughout your day.
