Two Waitresses Hoped Nobody Saw What They Wrote On Cops’ Receipt
Police officers, emergency workers, and first responders risk their lives every day to keep us safe. No matter how long or tiring their shifts are, they always show up to do their jobs.
After a long day, four police officers in Louisiana decided to grab a meal at their local Outback Steakhouse.
They didn’t expect the surprise that awaited them after they finished eating.
The incident took place at the Outback Steakhouse in Slidell, Louisiana, when the officers stopped by for dinner. Their meal was served like any other, but when they got the bill, they were in for a shock.
“They’re the sweetest guys,” said Zoë Rao, the waitress who served them. “I enjoy waiting on them.”
What happened next quickly went viral on social media.
The restaurant’s manager, Arline Wood, recognized the officers as regulars. She and Zoë decided to treat them to dinner.
When the officers went to pay the $67 bill, they were surprised to see it was covered. The receipt also included a note that read:
“Be safe!” at the top, and further down: “Thank y’all for your service! Enjoy your meal on us!”
“They care about the community. They’re great guys,” said Arline. “I went to Zoë and said, ‘Let’s take care of it.’”
The officers left a generous tip in return for the kind gesture.
Later, the Slidell Police Department shared the image of the receipt on their Facebook page, and it quickly went viral. However, Arline and Zoë didn’t want the publicity.
“It’s been a bit overwhelming,” Arline said. “We didn’t do it for attention. We just wanted to do something nice.”
But maybe the attention will inspire others to thank those who risk their lives for us.
Kudos to Arline and Zoë for setting an example of how to show appreciation to our law enforcement officers.
